CL Lucas grew up between the bayous of South Louisiana and the hill country of Mississippi, where he later studied at Ole Miss, coming up on the kind of Mississippi fiction where grace and violence tend to show up in the same room. He spent the next two decades in uniform: Navy aircrewman, Naval Flight Officer, B-52 flier, and combat veteran of the Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He writes literary fiction, poetry, and memoir that lives in the distance between his origins and what he picked up along the way. Under the pen name Jeaux Dirte, he writes transgressive fiction with a freedom the style grants. He's currently completing Killing Jane Fonda: Elegy of a Misfortunate Son, alongside the short story collection Crawfish and Vinegar Pie and the poetry manuscript Ajax Along the Teche. Based in Texas.
